Video Marketing Gold Coast

Video Marketing Gold Coast

The success of YouTube has changed the way companies are using the web to market their products. Rayban for example felt the need to promote their products via Youtube with their unique throwing sunglasses stunts.

Some large companies are trying very hard to get their products in front of difficult to reach demographics. Many younger people do not watch News on TV and aquire information in different ways.

Important rule – do not try to advertise to people on the web. They want to avoid advertising. In some cases they will accept indirect advertising if it includes the exchange of quality information.

Capturing Video from your Mobile Phone and putting it on your website

Mobile phones are now quite sophisiticated media devices. They use special formats for video (3GP defined by Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) ). The big advantage of a mobile phone is its availability. Shoot anything as it happens and put it on your website.
We used 3GP converted to a Flash Video (same format as YouTube) for the Gold Coast Health and Fitness site.
What about sound?
Interestingly the sound was recorded seperately using the AMR format on the same phone (Samsung F480). This can be converted to mp3 and added to the video.
Flash developers know FLV is the best format for websites that are not setup for streaming. Adding video and audio to our Content Management System is available.
Another example we said to Scott of Crema Main Beach we can put a quick video of you via my phone check the results Best Coffee Gold Coast which is using the same CMS as the Gold Coast Health and Fitness site. We know the video is not going to win quality awards but it can be used effectively to get a message across and make a site more interesting.

Yellow Pages vs a Website Annual Costs

A $17,000 pa Yellow Pages ad compared to a new website costing $10,000 with $1,000 pa maintenance costs.
The difference over 3 years is $39,000.
A $10,000 website could include full Content Management including news articles, photo gallery, audio, video, slide shows, document download management and subscriber email management.
The value of the website if created well and advancing in Search Engines would be substantially higher than the original outlay.
Note - some industries are very responsive to websites and others are not - which is yours?

Advertising your video using YouTube

YouTube (2009) utilises two advertising services, "Brand Channels" and "Self-Service Advertising", in its advertising-supported revenue model.

A YouTube account is called a "channel". A "Brand Channel" is a customisable YouTube channel that companies can purchase and use it to promote their products or services to an audience within YouTube. "Brand Channels" may be customised with text, images, animation and videos. Currently, there are over 3000 brand channels on YouTube (YouTube 2009).

The other advertising service used by YouTube is "Self-Service Advertising". The user can utilise this service with or without using video for their advertising. The service is cost-per-click (CPC).

Advertisers can use "Self-Service Advertising" with video to promote a video, or a YouTube channel. The advertiser specifies keywords that are associated with the content of a video, or of their channel. When YouTube users search for something on YouTube using those keywords, the video or channel appears in the search results.

For YouTube’s non-video "Self-Service Advertising", the advertiser can opt for contextual or placement targeting.

Contextual targeting uses Google AdWords to display advertisements on pages with content that is associated with the advertisement. AdWords (2009) is Google’s CPC advertising service. Using AdWords, the advertiser specifies keywords that are associated with their advertisement. AdWords then finds pages on YouTube that utilise those keywords (it also looks at the frequency of those words, font sizes and word placement) and displays the advertisement on those pages.

For placement targeting, the advertiser manually selects sites on which they’d like their advertisements to appear.
