Video Marketing

Video marketing is an effective way to inexpensively reach a large audience.

Youtube is by far the largest video sharing site. It has with the most traffic and the highest amount of users on it.

According to alexa (a company that monitors popular sites) Youtube is the second highest trafficked site globally. One important factor is the age of people using Youtube are generally those that are hard to reach in traditional media.

from Wikipidia
Youtube was created by 3 former PayPal employees and uses Flash technology. Flash is largely regarded as the best technology for animation and video on the web.

Few statistics are publicly available regarding the number of videos on YouTube. However, in July 2006, the company revealed that more than 100 million videos were being watched every day, and 2.5 billion videos were watched in June 2006. 50,000 videos were being added per day in May 2006, and this increased to 65,000 by July.

Getting started with Youtube

You need to set up an account with youtube and post your video in various forms. These are constantly updated so check the details at Youtube Upload Recommendations

Creating your first video for the web

You may simply want to make your own video and put it on your site. This may or may not require Youtube.
Most cameras come with software to edit a video - you can also purchase software to convert this video into a suitable Flash format.
By using relatively cheap software you can easily convert a video clip into a format (either flv or swf) that can be played in browsers.
If you need your video to be viewed over slow connections you can make different versions to suit dialup and broadband users.

Audio is important
Good quality audio can be more important than the video quality. Youtube recommends good quality MP3. Although many headsets come with a microphone, these are often of low quality and may make your presentation or video look amaturish.

Getting an effective professional video created for the web

StoryBoardWe recommend shooting the video in the highest quality possible. If you are not using a professional camera you can still get reasonable quality with a new camera. Send your video to us or to your video production people with a storyboard of how you would like the scenes. This allows a creative person to understand what you would like to include with a brief description next to it. Provide your orignial footage and a good storyboard and you can reduce your costs dramatically.
